Soak dried fruits in cold water to cover overnight. Drain fruit & place in saucepan. Add orange juice, water, lemon juice, cloves, & cinnamon. Simmer gently for 45 mins, then add sugar. Cook, stirring frequently, for 10 mins longer. Serve cooled to room temp or chilled. Makes 4 to 6 servings.

ADVICE FROM MAMA: A nice variation is to substitute 1/2 cup honey for the sugar. This makes for a different kind of sweetness.
